My thesis concerns analysing and composing choral music. The American composer Eric Whitacre is my main focus in the work. He is also compared with other composers, for instance Arvo Pärt`s choral style, Morten Lauridsen, Rene Clausen, Claude Debussy and Claudio Monteverdi`s Italian madrigals in reference to a variery of compositional similarities. The theoretical part of my thesis is set to use and be inspired by techniques which has been used to compose the piece Missa Brevis (Kyrie, Sanctus and Agnus dei).
